Restaurants
Guadalajara Grill
Central Mexican food and salsa made fresh at your table, yum! 1730 E Prince Road
Rosa's Mexican Food
My favorite salsa, and good enchilada sauce. Simple food, but good. I'll take the number 12 please! 1750 E Fort Lowell, #165
Café Poca Cosa
Go for lunch and you get the same food as at dinner for less $$. Take a chance and get the Plato, the chef's choice. I promise you won't be disappointed. 110 E Pennington St.
Bistro Zin
Upscale bistro. Love the wine flights, fantastic desserts. I've never had a bad experience here, from the food to the service. Always a pleasure to dine here. 1865 E River Road
Chad's Steakhouse
Think 1950's cowboy bunkhouse. Nothing fancy here, just good steaks, and all the side dishes are included in the price of your meal. 3001 N Swan Road
Sushi Hama
Tucson has surprisingly good and fresh sushi for being nowhere near an ocean. This is my favorite place - keep an eye out for the flying hot towels. If you're lucky, it's someone's birthday and you'll get to experience the extended "Happy Birthday" disco remix. 3971 N Oracle Road
Shish Kebab House
I have a standing order here for the motabal and the gyro deluxe. Family run business, good Middle Eastern food, and belly dancers a few nights of the week. 5855 E Broadway Blvd.
Hacienda del Sol
My favorite fancy place. The staff isn't snobby, the food is excellent, and the ambience is cozy and comfortable. They have tapas on the large bar patio too, for casual dining under the stars. 5601 N Hacienda del Sol Road
Kingfisher
I am a stickler for good service, and I always get it here. I get a meal of appetizers - shrimp cakes and Caesar salad, with room for dessert. 2564 E Grant Road
Eegees
The quintessential summer accessory. The sandwiches are unremarkable, go for the slushlike fruit beverage lovingly known as the Eegee. 20 locations in Tucson.

Reid Park Zoo
Small, but entertaining. Giraffes, elephants, a polar bear, among other animals. 1100 Randolph Way

Spectacular canyon with walking, hiking, and equestrian tours. Picnic, watch wildlife, even cycle the in the canyon. There's even shuttle busses that run in the canyon for those interested in nature, but not in exercise. Just North of the intersection of Sabino Canyon Road and Sunrise.
